πŸ—“οΈ Friday Evening: When Work Ends, Adventure Begins

For most, Friday night means winding down. But for 20 of us – a mix of trekking enthusiasts and first-timers – it marked the start of an unforgettable adventure. Our destination? The Netravati Peak, one of the most scenic treks in Chikmagalur.

We gathered at Indiranagar bus stop in Bangalore at 10 PM. With bags packed and hearts buzzing, we boarded our bus and kicked things off with self-introductions and music. Our trek leader brought energy, games, and laughter to the ride, and before long, the bus turned into a mobile dance party!

β˜• Midnight Vibes & Morning Views in Chikmagalur

After a short coffee break around midnight, we continued our journey. By 6 AM, we reached our cozy homestay near Netravati. Post fresh-up, a delicious breakfast of hot idlis and sambar gave us the energy we needed.

We packed our lunch and hopped into rugged jeeps for a thrilling ride to the Netravati trek base. The trail was slushy and wild – a true prelude to what lay ahead.

πŸ₯Ύ Into the Wild: Netravati Trek Begins

At the base, forest officials checked our trekking permits. Rain had already started drizzling as we geared up with raincoats, trekking sticks, and sturdy shoes.

The trek is around 14 km (7 km each way) through the mist-covered Western Ghats. The forest was alive – gushing streams, dense foliage, and a few mischievous leeches adding to the thrill. We hiked through slippery trails, crossed tiny waterfalls, and were awestruck by the view at every turn.

A highlight of the trail was visiting the birthplace of River Netravati, tucked deep in the forest – a spiritual and refreshing moment. Shortly after, we stumbled upon a hidden waterfall, nature’s perfect surprise!

πŸ”οΈ On Top of the Western Ghats – Netravati Peak

Reaching the Netravati Peak was pure magic. Surrounded by clouds and cool breeze, we sat on the mountaintop, had our packed lunch, clicked countless pictures, and soaked in the panoramic views.

This was one of the best trekking experiences near Bangalore – raw, beautiful, and energizing.

πŸ”₯ Campfire, DJ & Authentic Chikmagalur Dinner

The descent was equally scenic, and by 7 PM, we were back at the homestay. After a hot water bath and removing the last few leeches, we gathered around a cozy campfire.

A DJ set lit up the evening as we danced under the stars. Dinner was a delicious spread of local Chikmagalur cuisine, and we ended the night in dorm-style accommodations, tired yet content.

🌿 Sunday Sightseeing: Tea Estates, Hanging Bridges & Temples

Sunday started with breakfast, after which we explored Samse Tea Estate, the beautiful Kalasa Hanging Bridge, and finally the historical Belur Temple – a nice cultural close to our nature-filled weekend.

After lunch near Hassan, we rolled back into Bangalore by 11 PM, hearts full and phones full of photos.
